Shiva Thapa, Manish Kaushik in men’s national boxing semi-finals

Six-time Asian medalist Shiva Thapa and 2019 World Championship bronze medalist Manish Kaushik advanced to the semi-finals of the 6th Men’s National Boxing Championship. Thapa (63.5kg) defeated Punjab’s Ashutosh Kumar in the quarterfinals. Thapa, a bronze medalist at the 2005 World Championships, scored 5. Won by 0. In the same category, Kaushik of the Army Sports Control Board defeated Rohit N of Manipur. Thapa and Kaushik will face each other in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Varinder Singh (60 kg) of Railway Sports Promotion Board defeated 2018 Commonwealth Games champion Gaurav Solanki of Haryana.

He will now face Sunil Chauhan of Uttar Pradesh. RSPB’s Rohit Tokas (67 kg) beat All India Police’s Nishchay by 5. Beaten by 0. He will now play Himachal Pradesh’s Abhinash Jamwal. Two-time Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Mohammed Hussamuddin (57kg) defeated Manish Rathod of Uttar Pradesh by 5. Beaten by 0. He will now take on 2019 Asian Championship silver medalist Ashish Kumar of Himachal Pradesh.
