CONCACAF Gold Cup: Giménez’s goal helps Mexico beat Panama to win the cup

Inglewood. Santiago Giménez’s 88th-minute goal helped Mexico beat Panama 1-0 on Sunday to win the CONCACAF Gold Cup football tournament for a record ninth time. Obeln Pineda fired a brilliant pass inside the circle to Giménez, who sprinted past Harold Cummings and Fidel Escobar to beat goalkeeper Orlando Mosquera to score his second goal of the tournament and fourth overall.

The Argentine-born Giménez had come on as a substitute three minutes earlier. Only two goals came against Mexico in the tournament. The number of times the team has won this tournament, the rest of the countries together have not won this tournament. So far America has won the Gold Cup title seven times and Canada once.
