But the government has made some changes in its rules to prevent tax evasion.

Food aggregator app will now give GST directly to the government
Food Delivery GST New Rules: According to the new rules of the government, food aggregators like Zomato-Swiggy will now pay GST directly to the government. Food aggregator app will now deposit 5% GST directly to the government. But its direct effect will not be on the pockets of the people because, it will not be expensive for the customers to order food online. The GST Council has recently decided that the food aggregators will not pass on the part of the GST received on the food ordered on the app to the restaurant, but they themselves will pay 5 per cent GST to the government.

The arbitrariness of the restaurant will stop
It is worth noting that earlier also, customers used to pay GST on orders, which apps like Zomato-Swiggy used to deposit the restaurant earlier, but now they will deposit it directly to the government. This will reduce tax evasion. Now after the new rules of GST, it will be the responsibility of food aggregator apps to collect tax from the restaurants through which they are providing service and submit it to the government.
