South Africa will get a chance to play in the World Cup, benefited from the cancellation of the match between Ireland and Bangladesh

South Africa have secured their place in the ODI World Cup to be held in India later this year after the first match of the three ODI series between Bangladesh and Ireland was washed out due to rain. Ireland needed to win all three matches of the series to automatically qualify for the World Cup via the ICC ODI Super League. As a result, South Africa do not automatically qualify, but instead Ireland will now have to go through the final qualifying round to be held in June and July.

In the match played on Tuesday, Bangladesh batting first scored 246 runs on nine wickets. In response, when Ireland scored 65 runs for three wickets in 16.3 overs, then the rain came and after that the game could not be played. Experienced batsman Mushfiqur Rahim scored the highest 61 runs from Bangladesh, which is his 44th half-century in ODIs. Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 44 and Tauheed Hriday scored 27 runs in 31 balls. Bangladesh has already secured its place in the World Cup to be held in India in October-November this year.
