According to sources, the RLD will get 36 seats in the alliance. According to the formula, out of 36 seats that RLD will get, in 6 seats, SP candidates will contest on the symbol of RLD. Thus 30 seats will go to the account of RLD. There was a tussle between RLD and SP over seats. RLD was demanding 50 seats under the alliance while SP was ready to give only 28 to 30 seats.

RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary had reached Lucknow on Tuesday. Jayant Chaudhary reached Akhilesh Yadav’s house today and held a meeting regarding the alliance and seat sharing between SP and RLD. The meeting of the two leaders was kept secret. This is being told as the first round of meeting between Akhilesh-Jayant regarding seat sharing. It is being told that after meeting Akhilesh Yadav at his residence, the seat-sharing between the two parties is almost final.

There was a closed-door meeting between the two leaders for about an hour today. After this meeting, Akhilesh Yadav shared a photo with Jayant on Twitter. Jayant Choudhary also shared the picture after the meeting and wrote, ‘Badte Kadam’. After this Akhilesh Yadav also tweeted. This time in the election battle of UP, the exercise of giving hope to the Samajwadi Party and the Rashtriya Lok Dal to fight together was going on for a long time. Although both the parties had announced an alliance, the seat sharing has not been done so far. This time the SP has tied up with many smaller parties for the assembly elections. The picture of this agreement is now becoming clear. Apart from RLD, other small parties including Om Prakash’s Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party and RLD are also involved.

According to sources, only 50 to 55 seats will be given to the allies under the alliance. Thus, this time SP will contest on about 350 seats in the state. The same assessment was given by “Naya India” in its earlier report also. In such a situation, RLD is expected to get 30 seats in western Uttar Pradesh and more than a dozen seats in Purvanchal for Subhasp. The announcement of the alliance between SP and RLD was getting entangled in the arithmetic of seats. There was a tug of war going on in Chandpur of Bijnor, Gangoh of Saharanpur, Barot of Baghpat, Mant and Chhatra of Mathura, Thana Bhawan of Shamli, Shikarpur in Bulandshahr besides Charthawal seat of Muzaffarnagar. Due to the lack of consensus on these seats, the talks between the two parties dragged on.

The SP has a claim on the Baraut seat of Baghpat, the home district of Lok Dal leader Chaudhary Charan Singh. Under the formula, it has been agreed to contest the SP candidate here on the symbol of RLD. Both the parties have claims on Mathura’s Mant seat and Bulandshahr’s Shikarpur seat. RLD has claimed some seats not only in Western UP but also in Central UP and Purvanchal. In this, the seats of Palia, Basti Sadar of Lakhimpur Kheri, which were in discussion in the recent farmers movement, are prominent. The RLD has also sought a seat for Ramashis Rai, the national president of Kisan Morcha. On which talks are going on between the two parties. RLD is expected to get at least five seats in Purvanchal.

In alliance talks, SP leaders had offered Khatauli seat of Muzaffarnagar and Meerut Cantt seat of Meerut to RLD, but both the seats were refused by RLD leaders. RLD is claiming Charthawal instead of Khatauli and Siwalkhas seat instead of Meerut Cantt. The picture of the alliance is expected to be clear on Wednesday.
