Canberra. Gearing up for their two-Test tour of Australia, West Indies played out a three-day warm-up match against New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory Combined XI here on Saturday. The Caribbean team had scored 114 runs for four wickets in the second innings at Manuka Oval, after which the game was called off. The home team had earlier declared at 426 for four. Opener Tejnarine Chanderpaul, son of West Indies great Shivnarine Chanderpaul, scored just four runs while not batting in the team’s first nine-wicket total of 424 declared. Jermaine Blackwood, a veteran of 48 Tests, scored 42 runs in the first innings before retiring but managed just one run in the second innings.

West Indies’ score was 77 for four after which Roston Chase (31 not out) and Joshua da Silva (12 not out) did not allow any wicket to fall. Blake McDonald scored an unbeaten 177 against the West Indies bowlers on Friday, while number three batsman Oliver Davies scored 115 off just 106 balls.

The visiting team will play the first Test against Australia from November 30 in Perth and the second day-night Test in Adelaide starting December 8. The team will now play a four-day day-night practice match against Prime Minister’s XI from next Wednesday.
