Warner out of second Test due to concussion and hairline fracture, Renshaw back in XI

Australia’s star opener David Warner will not be able to play in the remaining match of the second Test being played here against India due to injury. Matthew Renshaw has been included in his place in the playing XI. On the opening day of the match on Friday, in the 10th over of Australia’s innings, Mohammad Siraj’s ball hit Warner’s head (helmet). The left-handed batsman had earlier also suffered an elbow injury. After this injury, the doctors treated him on the field.

He continued to play without undergoing a concussion test. When the Indian team came out to bat, this 36-year-old player did not come for fielding. Later it was found that he had a ‘hairline fracture’ in his hand. This casts doubt on his playing in the third Test as well. Facing the shot balls of Siraj and Mohammed Shami, Warner played an innings of 15 runs.

According to a statement issued by Cricket Australia, “Warner will now return as per the guidelines of Cricket Australia, following his playing protocol before the third Test in Indore.” After the end of the first day’s play, fellow opener Usman Khawaja Said that Warner is ‘feeling a bit tired’. Khawaja had said, “He is feeling a little tired after the arm and then the head injury.” Warner’s injury saw Renshaw return to the team. Renshaw was dropped from the team after scoring zero and two runs in the opening Test of the four-match series.
