Stimac said, stability and discipline won us the three-nation tournament

Head coach Igor Stimac on Wednesday said consistency and discipline helped the Indian football team win the tri-nation tournament in Imphal. India became the champion by defeating Myanmar and Kyrgyzstan. Stimac said, “The boys played with great attitude and the overall atmosphere was very positive. This is the result which creates positivity for us. “He said,” This was our fifth consecutive win at home and it is very important for us to boost our confidence.

The Indian coach said, “We were very calm and disciplined and did not give Myanmar or Kyrgyzstan any big opportunities except for a few minutes in the second half. We could have done better in those areas but the boys are improving steadily.” Stimac also thanked Manipur for hosting the national team in a wonderful manner. India not only won both their matches against Myanmar (1-0) and higher-ranked Kyrgyzstan (2-0) but also did not concede a single goal against the hosts. India captain Sunil Chhetri said, “It was good to play these two matches and it was important for us to get two wins. It was the first time I played in Manipur so it was a very special occasion.
