KKR skipper Rana excited to see coach Chandrakant Pandit’s impact on the team
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) stand-in captain Nitish Rana on Friday said that he is excited to see Chandrakant Pandit’s impact on the team due to his excellent knowledge of Indian domestic cricket. Pandit has been one of the most celebrated coaches in Indian domestic cricket over the years. He replaced Brendon McCullum as the head coach of KKR ahead of this season. Madhya Pradesh won the title last year under the supervision of coach Pandit, who made Mumbai and Vidarbha the winner of Ranji Trophy multiple times.
On the eve of their Indian Premier League opener against Punjab Kings on Saturday, Rana said, “I am very excited for the season. Whatever the principles related to Chandu Sir’s cricket, they match players like us who have played domestic cricket. Especially from Indian players.” Rana will lead KKR in the absence of regular skipper Shreyas Iyer. Iyer could be ruled out of the entire season due to a recurring lower back injury.
