Pakistan’s Mohammad Tyeb Ikram appointed president of Asian Hockey
Pakistan’s Mohammad Tyeb Ikram, CEO of the Asian Hockey Federation, was on Saturday elected the new President of the International Hockey Federation (FIH), replacing India’s Narinder Batra. Ikram met Marc Coudron of Belgium at the 48th Congress of the FIH here 79. defeated by 47. Of the total 129 national federations, 126 cast valid votes.
Ikram’s tenure will be of two years so that he can complete the term of former president Batra. Batra resigned on 18 July.Saif Ahmed was the acting President of FIH since then. The Delhi High Court had barred Batra from serving as the head of the Indian Olympic Association. Batra became FIH President in 2016 and resigned in July. He also gave up his membership of the International Olympic Committee.

The FIH Executive Board consists of a president, eight ordinary members (four men and four women), half of whom change every two years. Apart from these, a representative of players, presidents of continental federations, CEOs are also involved.
