Ankur and Suhana become U-19 table tennis singles champions

Ankur Bhattacharya and Suhana Saini won gold medals in the Under-19 boys and girls section of the South Asian Youth Table Tennis Tournament. It was a good day for the Indian team and all the gold medals that were at stake went to India. India also won four silver medals in the singles category. Bhutan did not get a single medal, whose players participated only in the singles category. India won gold medals in the Under-19 Boys, Under-19 Girls and Under-15 Girls categories. In the under-19 boys category, Ankur beat Payas Jain by 4. beat by 2. In the girls section, Suhana beat Yashaswini Ghorpade by 4. Beaten by 1.

In the U-19 girls’ doubles category, Yashaswini and Suhana beat Maldives’ Mishka Ibrahim and Fatima Dhema Ali by 3. beat by 0. In the boys’ doubles final, India’s Divyansh Srivastava and Jash Modi defeated Riday M Ahmed and Ban Raheen Liyan 3. Beaten by 0. In the under-15 boys category, Priyanuj Bhattacharya beat PB Abhinand by 3. 1 while Jennifer Varghese beat Avisha Karmakar 3 . Beaten by 1. In mixed doubles, Payas and Yashaswini beat Maldives’ Akhyar Ahmed Khalid and Fathima Dhima Ali. On the other hand, Abhinandan and Jennifer defeated Sri Lanka’s Mohammed Akram Shafiullah and Kavindya Tamadi.
