Mishra said that there are many leg-spinners in domestic cricket who can represent the national team

Former India cricketer Amit Mishra believes that there is no dearth of leg-spinners in the country and there are many of them who can make it to the national team in the near future. Mishra last represented India in 2017. He has 166 wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The 40-year-old recently represented Haryana in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy.

“Earlier people used to think that with the advent of T20 cricket, leg-spin is losing its utility,” he said after spending time with budding leg-spinners for a session here. But they have been proved completely wrong. Leg spin is not only effective in Test cricket, but it is equally effective in limited overs cricket as well.

He said, “Look at the IPL itself. Me and Yuzvendra Chahal are its two most successful Indian bowlers. So why not leg spinners should get more chances in all formats of the game. The 40-year-old said that he has no intention of retiring from domestic cricket. He said, “I can still play cricket for two-three more years. I am keeping myself fit and there has been no dip in my performance in the domestic season. I hope to join a franchise (IPL auction) in the auction.
