Roma have moved up to fourth place in the Serie A football tournament after beating last-placed Sampdoria 1-0. During this match on Monday, former Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero had to evacuate the security forces safely. Roma’s only goal of the match was scored on a penalty by Lorenzo Pellegrini in the opening moments of the first half. There is now a gap of just four points between top-runners Napoli and Roma.

Sampdoria has only three points in 10 matches. Ferrero arrived in Sampdoria more than a year after his arrest in a fraudulent bankruptcy case. After his arrest, he had to step down as president. His presence in the stadium was hooted by spectators and raised derogatory slogans, and he was eventually escorted out of the stadium 15 minutes after the start of the match in the presence of security personnel to protect them from unhappy fans. In another match, Fiorentina held Lees to a 1-1 draw.
