Sampdoria has only three points in 10 matches. Ferrero arrived in Sampdoria more than a year after his arrest in a fraudulent bankruptcy case. After his arrest, he had to step down as president. His presence in the stadium was hooted by spectators and raised derogatory slogans, and he was eventually escorted out of the stadium 15 minutes after the start of the match in the presence of security personnel to protect them from unhappy fans.
