The Hockey World Cup 2023 is going to start in India from 13 January. On January 13, the first match will be played between Argentina and South Africa at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. Before this, the official opening ceremony of the World Cup will also be held. Many scintillating performances will be done to organize the opening ceremony of the Hockey World Cup 2023. The opening ceremony will see scintillating performances by several Bollywood stars, local singers and foreign artistes. Artists like Bollywood superstar and youth favorite Ranveer Singh, actress Disha Patni will perform at the opening ceremony. The event will witness power-packed performances by music directors Pritam, Leesha Mishra, Odissi dance gurus Aruna Mahanty, Neeti Mohan, singer Benny Dayal, singer Shreya Lenka and Blackson Dance Group.
World Cup schedule is going to be like this
In the 15th edition of the Hockey World Cup, the Indian team will play its first match against the Spanish team at the newly constructed Birsa Munda Stadium in Rourkela on January 13 at 7 pm. This is the second time in a row that India is going to host this World Cup. Earlier in the year 2018, the World Cup was organized in Bhubaneswar. During this, Belgium captured the trophy. The Netherlands team won the silver medal and the Australian team won the bronze.
16 teams taking part
A total of 16 teams are participating in this World Cup. Four groups have been made for the World Cup, four teams have been included in each group. The winning team from each group will directly qualify for the quarter-finals. While the second and third placed teams from each group will play the crossover round and the winner will enter the quarter.
