Ishant did not bowl, Maharashtra beat Delhi

Experienced fast bowler Ishant Sharma was ruled out of a single over in the second innings due to injury as Maharashtra took advantage of a weak Delhi attack to register a comprehensive nine-wicket win in their Ranji Trophy Group B match here on Friday. Ishant had bowled 20 overs in the first innings but did not come out to bowl in the second innings. With this, Maharashtra achieved the target of 178 runs in 46 overs. From his side, Pawan Shah scored 87 not out and Kaushal Tambe scored 64 not out.

If Delhi were able to score 310 runs in their second innings, then the credit goes to Himmat Singh’s innings of 84 runs. Apart from Ishant, another Delhi bowler Simranjit Singh could only bowl two overs in the second innings due to a hamstring injury. He bowled 35 overs in the first innings. Another bowler Mayank Yadav also got injured while bowling during the first innings.

Delhi skipper Yash Dhull had to go with five spinners after three key pacers were ruled out due to injury. He also bowled himself. In other Group B matches, Tamil Nadu drew with Hyderabad while Saurashtra secured three points each on the basis of first innings lead after drawing their matches with Assam.
