FIFA World Cup: Despite defeating Saudi Arabia, Mexico could not reach the knockout

Henry Martin and Luis Chavez scored goals as Mexico beat Saudi Arabia 2-1 in their FIFA World Cup match on Wednesday night but it was not enough to send them through to the knockout stages. This was due to Argentina’s 2–0 victory over Poland, which was decided on goal difference to advance to the knockouts. Mexico failed to advance from Group C for the first time since 1978.
