Raval, Himmat’s brilliant innings lead Delhi to lead against Mumbai

Vaibhav Raval (114) hit a century and skipper Himmat Singh (85) hit a half-century as Delhi took a 23-run first innings lead on the second day of the Ranji Trophy Elite Group B match on Wednesday. After bundling out Mumbai for 293, Delhi scored 316 for seven at the end of the day’s play. The team has a lead of 23 runs and has three wickets left. Delhi’s start, however, was very poor. Both openers Vaibhav Sharma and Dhruv Shorey went back to the pavilion early in the innings.

Hrithik Shokeen then scored 45 off 60 balls but he and Indian Premier League specialist Nitish Rana were dismissed to leave the team at 88 for four. Rawal and captain Himmat then added 195 runs for the fifth wicket to put the team in a strong position. Himmat had just become dangerous when Prasad Pawar stumped him on the ball of Shams Mulani. After this, Raval also became the victim of Mulani by scoring 114 runs in 195 balls with the help of 16 fours.

After this, Delhi also lost the wicket of Anuj Rawat. Pranshu Vijayaran (four not out) and Divij Mehra (eight not out) were at the crease at stumps. In the other group match, Saurashtra scored 122 for three after bowling out Andhra for 415 in Rajkot. Experienced Sheldon Jackson is playing on 63 runs. Half-centuries from Pradosh Ranjan Paul (153), Narayan Jagadeesan (125) and Vijay Shankar (112) helped Tamil Nadu bowl out four Assam batsmen for 120 after being bundled out for 540 in Chennai. In response to Maharashtra’s 385 in Pune, Hyderabad scored 176 for five wickets.
