FIFA World Cup: Neymar posts a picture of his swollen ankle, hopes to return to the World Cup
Neymar is planning a return to the football World Cup despite posting a picture of his swollen ankle. Neymar is undergoing treatment for his right ankle after injuring it during Brazil’s 2-0 win over Serbia on Thursday. Team doctors have said Neymar will miss Monday’s match against Switzerland but have not given a timeline for the veteran’s return or whether he will even be able to make a comeback.
Neymar wrote on Instagram that he was facing ‘one of the most difficult moments’ of his career but he seemed optimistic about his chances of a comeback. He showed two pictures of his swollen ankle in an Instagram story. Neymar wrote, “Yes, I am injured. There is pain and there will be pain. But I am sure I will have a chance to come back as I will do everything possible to help my country, my teammates and myself.

Neymar said that he had been waiting for this World Cup for a long time. Neymar said, “Nothing in my life has been easy or handed to me on a platter. I’ve always had to work hard to achieve my dreams and my goals.” Neymar also suffered an injury at the 2014 World Cup when a back injury sustained in the quarter-finals against Colombia ruled him out of the tournament. Brazil lost 1–7 to Germany in the semi-finals.
