Australia fans arrived with brooms, told the batsmen – “no sweeping”

During the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which began on Wednesday, a group of Australian fans carried brooms in a unique fashion at the Holkar Stadium here to advise the Australian batsmen not to play sweep shots. People in the group sent a message to the Australian batsmen not to lose their wickets trying to play “sweep” shots against the Indian spinners in this crucial match being played in the cleanest city in India. The Australian fans also carried brooms with placards bearing a “cross” over the broom’s insignia and “No Sweeping” printed below it.

Significantly, in the second Test played in Delhi, most of the Australian batsmen reached the pavilion while trying to play sweep shots against the Indian spinners, due to which the visiting team had to face defeat. Australian citizen Tom, who reached Indore to witness the third Test, also advised his country’s batsmen to play sweep shots thoughtfully. He told “PTI-Bhasha”, “Sweeping or reverse sweeping every other ball is not the right way of batting.” Australian batsmen should focus more on playing their natural game.
