The second ODI between India and New Zealand was played on 27 November which was abandoned due to rain. Before this match, Indian captain Shikhar Dhawan took a surprising decision, due to which cricket fans were quite surprised. In fact, Sanju Samson has not been included in the playing XI of the match.
 
Deepak Hooda got a chance in the team by dropping Sanju Samson in the match at Hamilton’s Seddon Park ground. Significantly, Sanju Samson got a place in the first match against New Zealand where he scored an inning of 36 runs. Although he did not get a place in the team in the second match. When the match was stopped for the second time, it could not be started again. At this time opener Shubman Gill was playing 45 runs in 42 balls with four fours and one six, while Surya Kumar Yadav was supporting him by scoring 34 runs in 25 balls with the help of three sixes and two fours. The toss was delayed by about 15 minutes due to rain but the match started on time. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss and decided to bowl first in a cloudy sky. The match was halted for almost four hours. When play resumed, the match was reduced to 29 overs. The match was first stopped due to rain and then canceled.
The New Zealand team is leading 1-0 in the three-match series. The third and final ODI will be played in Christchurch on Wednesday, 30 November. India cannot win the three-match series now but will look to level the series with a win in the final ODI.
