Test Cricket: Ashwin, Kuldeep take India to 348 for seven

Chittagong. India’s lower-order batsmen, led by Ravichandran Ashwin, fought back to take the team to 348 for seven at lunch on the second day of the first cricket Test against Bangladesh. Playing ahead at 278 for six, India lost the wicket of Shreyas Iyer (86) in the eighth over, bowled by Ibadat Hossain. Iyer once again missed out on a century and could only add four runs to yesterday’s score. He hit ten fours in his innings of 192 balls.

Iyer scored his first Test century on his debut in November last year and has been waiting for his second hundred since then. After the departure of Iyer, Kuldeep and Ashwin batted with understanding and added 55 runs in 132 balls in an unbroken seventh wicket partnership. Ashwin, who has scored five Test centuries, is playing 40 runs in 81 balls with the help of two fours and a six, while Kuldeep has scored 21 runs in 76 balls.
