Invincible Australia standing in the way of South Africa’s dream campaign

If South Africa are to end their dream campaign on a positive note, they will need to find a way to overcome a formidable challenge from hitherto unbeaten Australia in the Women’s T20 World Cup final here on Sunday. South Africa produced a remarkable display of fighting spirit to upset England in the semi-finals and will need a similar performance to seal victory over Australia.

Beating Australia won’t be easy by any means. He is a record five-time champion and has reached the final for the seventh consecutive time. South Africa has made good progress in the last 12 months. His team reached the semi-finals of the ODI World Cup last year and now it has made it to the final of an ICC event for the first time. South Africa have the best opening pair in Laura Woolfart and Tazmin Brits.

The Brit is a former junior world champion in the javelin throw but a car crash in 2012 ended her Olympic dreams. South Africa’s opening pair are in excellent form right now and if their team has to beat Australia, then both of them will have to give them a good start. Australia’s team reached the final after defeating India in a thrilling match. All-rounder Marijan Kapp was another important player who scored runs in the final overs in the semi-final.

Skipper Sune Luus feels why they have the best bowling attack in the world with two useful fast bowlers in Shabnim Ismail and Ayabonga Khaka. South Africa will also get immense support from the spectators in the final but its players will have to avoid getting under pressure in any way. Australia had easily beaten South Africa in the league stage but would like to take no chances in the title clash.

Australia, the most successful team in women’s cricket, has strong players in every department of the game. The way he snatched victory from India’s mouth in the semi-finals, it proved that one should not accept his victory till the last ball falls against Australia. The Meg Lanning-led side knows very well how to win even when the conditions are not favourable.
