35 probables selected for women’s hockey team camp, no place for Rani

Bangalore. Former captain Rani Rampal has been left out of Hockey India’s list of 35 probables for the national team camp ahead of the tour of Australia in May. Women’s team head coach Yaneke Shopmann said the camp would run from April 9 to May 13, after which the tour of Australia would take place. Under Rani’s captaincy, the Indian team finished a historic fourth at the Tokyo Olympics. Rani has been out of the team since then due to injuries. He was selected in the squad for the tour of South Africa earlier this year.

Rani played her 250th international match against Belgium in the FIH Women’s Pro League last year. He said in a statement issued by Hockey India, “After the last camp, we focused on individual games to improve them. Now we will focus on team play and technique. After the Australia tour, we will know where we stand against the top teams.
