Ministry of Railways, C-DOT tie up for modernization of telecom facilities
New Delhi| Ministry of Railways has tied up with Center for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), Government of India for modernization of telecommunication facilities related to operational and safety.
The ministry gave this information in a statement on Thursday. The objective of the agreement is to establish a collaborative working partnership between the Ministry and C-DOT for coordination and resource sharing.
C-DOT and the ministry will work together to modernize telecommunications in railways for public safety and security services using LTE-R (Long Term Growth Order capability), the statement said.
This will facilitate high-speed wireless voice and data communication within trains, from train to land and from train to train. It will also help the Railways to comply with global standards in line with the ‘Make in India’ policy.
