Australia beat South Africa to win the series, lead 2-0 in the series

Spinner Nathan Lyon took three for 58 as Australia thrashed South Africa by an innings and 182 runs on the fourth day of the second Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Thursday to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. . Australia will now try to clean sweep the series by winning the third and final Test match to be held in Sydney from January 4. South Africa, after trailing by 385 runs in the first innings, could not do well in the second innings as well and their entire team was dismissed for 204 runs.

Australia, in reply, declared their first innings 575 for nine with the help of opener David Warner’s 200 and Alex Carey’s 111.
