Bad news for Nagpur Test hero Ravindra Jadeja, ICC takes strict action in this matter

In the first Test match played between Australia and the Indian team in Nagpur, India defeated the visiting team by an innings and 132 runs. Ravindra Jadeja emerged as the hero of India’s victory at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. On one hand, where the Indian team was celebrating the first victory, the ICC has taken strict action on the important hero of this victory.

Ravindra Jadeja, the hero of India’s victory in the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, was on Saturday fined 25 per cent of his match fee. The reason given was that he had applied ointment on the index finger on the first day of the match without permission from the on-field umpire. Jadeja, who had plastered a swollen finger on his bowling hand, returned figures of seven for 81 in the match and contributed 70 runs as India won by an innings and 132 runs.

Please inform that a video of Nagpur test is going viral on social media. In this, Ravindra Jadeja was seen taking something from his fellow fast bowler Mohammad Siraj and rubbing it on the index finger of his left hand. The matter was blown up by the Australian media and a former player. The Australian media became increasingly interested in what he was applying, but the ICC (International Cricket Council) stated that the ointment had been applied to the finger purely for medical purposes and would affect the condition of the ball. There was no change.

violation of rules

In this case, it came to light that the ointment that Ravindra Jadeja had applied on his hand was applied without the permission of the umpire. At the same time, according to the rules of the ICC, it was a violation of the rules. Applying ointment without the permission of the umpire was deemed a breach of Article 2.20 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which deals with conduct unbecoming of the spirit of the game.

In this regard, the ICC issued a statement saying, “India’s spin bowler Ravindra Jadeja was fined 25 percent of his match fee on Thursday for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the first Test against Australia in Nagpur.” “Additionally, one ‘demerit’ point has also been added to Jadeja’s disciplinary record, which was his first offense in 24 months,” it added.

Jadeja has accepted the breach and the fine proposed by Andy Pycroft of the ICC’s Elite Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for an official hearing. “The match referee was satisfied that the ointment was applied to the finger purely for medical purposes,” the ICC said in a statement. There was no change in the condition of the ball which did not violate Article 41.3 of the ICC Playing Conditions.” The charge was laid by on-field umpires Nitin Menon and Richard Illingworth, third umpire Michael Gough and fourth umpire KN Ananthapadmanabhan. The minimum penalty in level one is an official reprimand and the maximum is a deduction of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee and a fine of one or two demerit points.
