Indian shooters can play a tournament on the shooting range of Paris Olympics

New Delhi. A select group of Indian shooters may play a tournament in Paris in the third week of July to give them range experience ahead of the Olympics next year. From July 15, the tournament will be played at the same range where the shooting events of the 2024 Paris Olympics are to be held. All the selected shooters who participated in ISSF World Championship and Hangzhou Asian Games will not play in this tournament. “The team will have a mix of players who are participating in the World Championship and Asian Games and who have not been selected but were in the initial squad,” said a source in the National Rifle Association of India.

Indian shooters, who won medals three times in a row from Athens Olympics 2004 to London Olympics 2012, returned empty-handed from the 2016 and 2020 Olympics. Last week, the NRAI announced the rifle and pistol teams for the Asian Games and the World Championship. A total of 21 shooters (11 in pistol and 10 in rifle) from India will participate in the Games to be held in Hangzhou from September 23 to October 8. On the other hand, the World Championship will be held in Baku from August 14 to September 1, in which 22 players from India will participate.
