Vir Das broke silence on ‘Two India’s controversy, said- ‘Don’t laugh if you don’t joke’
New Delhi: Comedian Vir Das has broken his silence on his controversy over the title ‘Two Indias’ at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington DC. In an interview with a leading daily, he explained that he was ‘just doing a show’ and did not intend to initiate conversation. Virdas further said that I was just doing a show. We were full, and it was my audience and I wrote a piece. I don’t think you ever expect to start a conversation. I guess you expect people to laugh. Unbeknownst to the Mumbai-based stand-up comic found itself the target of several netizens, a video titled ‘Main Do Bharat Se Aata Hoon’ went viral. Veer got trolled a lot after this viral video. According to sources, a complaint has also been filed against Das for speaking against India.

Virdas touched on various burning issues including agrarian protests, rape in India, the fight against COVID-19 and the comedian’s crackdown in the six-minute clip, which was a part of his recent performance at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington DC. The most part of the video was in the discussion in which Veer was saying that I come from India where we worship daughters during the day and gang-rape them at night. The comedian came under criticism from various sections of the society, including actor Kangana Ranaut, who have demanded action against him.
