Chose cricket over athletics because I loved team sport: Hazlewood

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fast bowler Josh Hazlewood said that he chose cricket over athletics so that he could enjoy the success of his teammates even on a bad day for himself. The Australian fast bowler is recovering from a heel injury and is likely to be available for his IPL franchise in the fourth week of April. Hazlewood was interested in javelin throw during his school days but eventually got involved in cricket.

When asked about giving priority to cricket over javelin, Hazlewood said, “Cricket was my first passion. I was 15 or 16 when I felt that now I should decide on which sport I want to take up. I joined athletics in the winter to keep myself fit and spend some time out of school. “Individual sports are very difficult,” he said in the RCB podcast. I could not remain in it for long. If you are in a team sport, you can win or lose the match whether it is a good day or a bad day. In this, you can enjoy the success of your fellow players. “Hazlewood said,” I have learned over the years that not only my own but everyone’s success in the team should be enjoyed.
