ITF Mysuru Open: Mukund Sasikumar-Vishnu Vardhan won the doubles title
India’s Mukund Sasikumar and Vishnu Vardhan clinched the ITF Mysuru Open doubles title with a stunning win over compatriots B Rithvik Choudhary and top seeds Nikki Poonacha, here on Saturday. Mukund-Vishnu pair defeated Chowdhary and Poonacha 6-3, 6-4 in a match that lasted one hour and 10 minutes. During the match, the Mukund-Vishnu pair saved seven break points and converted two chances to clinch the title.
Earlier, the Mukund-Vishnu pair had stormed into the doubles final with a 6-4, 7-5 upset win over second seeds Blake Ellis of Australia and Vladislav Orlov of Ukraine. The Indian challenge in the singles ended with a semi-final loss to SD Prajwal Dev. Prajwal Dev was defeated by Britain’s George Lofhagen 7-5, 6-4 in a two-hour match. Lofhages will next face eighth seed Blake Ellis of Australia, who reached the final after defeating American Oliver Crawford.
