Stadium named after Rani Rampal, the first woman player to receive this honor

New Delhi. The stadium in Rae Bareli has been named after Indian hockey star Rani Rampal and she became the first female player to receive the honour. MCF Rae Bareli has now been renamed as ‘Rani’s Girls Hockey Turf’. Rani shared pictures on social media where she can be seen talking to the players and inaugurating the stadium. Rani tweeted, “I cannot express my happiness in words. The MCF Rae Bareilly Hockey Stadium has been named Rani’s Girls Hockey Turf in recognition of my contribution to the game.

He said, “It is an emotional and proud moment for me. I am the first woman hockey player to have a hockey stadium named after me. I dedicate this to the Indian women’s hockey team and hope it inspires the next generation.” Rani made a comeback to the Indian team earlier this year. Before this, he took the initiative in 2021. Played FIH Pro League in 2012 in which he completed 250 international matches. Rani, who has been battling injuries since the Tokyo Olympics, was not in the squad for the World Cup and Commonwealth Games.
