Suspicion remains on Rohit’s availability for Test series, Jai Shah gave this statement

New Delhi. Indian Cricket Board secretary Jay Shah said on Friday that a decision will be taken later on whether injured captain Rohit Sharma will play in the two-Test series against Bangladesh. Rohit had injured his thumb while fielding in the slips in the second ODI against Bangladesh at Mirpur on December 7.

Shah said in a release that he was examined by the BCCI medical team and underwent scans at a local hospital in Dhaka. He has left for Mumbai to see a specialist and will not play the last ODI. A decision on his playing in the Test series will be taken later.

The BCCI has asked injured fast bowlers Deepak Chahar and Kuldeep Sen to attend the National Cricket Academy. Both are hurt. Shah said that fast bowler Kuldeep Sen had complained of stiffness in his back after the first ODI. The BCCI medical team has advised him rest. He will not be able to play further in the series.

Fast bowler Deepak Chahar suffered a hamstring injury during the second ODI and has also been ruled out of the series. Both will now go to NCA.
