David gave Mumbai a thrilling win, Jaiswal’s century went in vain
With the help of Tim David’s 14-ball 45, Mumbai Indians registered a thrilling six-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League match on Sunday, beating Yashasvi Jaiswal’s century. Batting first, thanks to Jaiswal’s first century, Rajasthan scored 212 runs for seven wickets. Jaiswal played an inning of 124 runs in 62 balls with the help of 16 fours and eight sixes. In response, Mumbai scored 214 runs losing four wickets with three balls to spare. David, who was the architect of Mumbai’s victory, scored an unbeaten 45 in just 14 balls with the help of two fours and five sixes.
Mumbai needed 32 runs in the last two overs to win. David scored 15 runs in the 19th over including a four and a six off Sandeep Sharma. Mumbai needed 17 runs in the last over and David hit Jason Holder for three sixes in the first three balls to give the team a miraculous victory and make this 1000th match of IPL memorable. Earlier, Suryakumar Yadav scored 55 runs in 29 balls which included eight fours and two sixes. Cameron Green scored 44 in 26 balls and Tilak Verma scored 29 not out in 21 balls. Captain Rohit Sharma (three) was dismissed cheaply. The highlight of Rajasthan’s innings has been Jaiswal, who has scored over 400 runs this season and also scored the highest score of the season.
Giving him a lot of advice to Riley Meredith, he hit eight fours and a six. Meredith gave away 51 runs in four overs. Although the rest of Rajasthan’s batsmen could not play well, but Jaiswal kept the run rate going. He added 72 runs for the first wicket with Jos Buttler (18). Jaiswal completed his half-century in the 11th over by hitting Chawla for a four. Chawla took the second wicket in the form of Devdutt Padikkal. Before the start of the match, BCCI presented mementos to both the captains Rohit Sharma and Sanju Samson to mark the 1000th match of IPL. Apart from this, mementos were also given to Rajasthan head coach Kumar Sangakkara and Mumbai Indians icon Sachin Tendulkar. This was the 150th match of Rohit, who became the captain of Mumbai in April 2013.
