Hockey World Cup: Trophy reached Guwahati under countrywide tour, Men’s Hockey World Cup to be held in Odisha from January 13 to 29

The Hockey World Cup trophy has reached Guwahati, the largest city of Assam, as part of its nationwide tour. The journey of the trophy will start from host Odisha and end there. The trophy arrived here from Manipur’s capital Imphal on Thursday and was paraded through the city. Top government officials and Assam Hockey general secretary Tapan Kumar Das welcomed the trophy, according to an official release. The trophy convoy was greeted by students and teachers as it passed near Gauhati University.

The trophy then reached the hockey stadium at Bhetapara where it was received by the players and officials. Later, at the Kamakhya temple complex, the trophy was handed over to Jharkhand Hockey officials who will take it to Jharkhand. The Men’s Hockey World Cup is to be held in Odisha from January 13 to 29. The trophy will pass through 13 states and one union territory in a 21-day journey.
