Wrestlers Protest: ‘Police working in favor of Brij Bhushan’, wrestlers said – until action is taken, the strike will continue

Wrestlers’ strike at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi continues today. A hearing was also held in the Supreme Court today on the petition of the wrestlers. Olympians Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia addressed a press conference after the hearing in the Supreme Court. During this, both of them thanked the Supreme Court and clearly said that till the action is not taken, our strike will continue. It was said on behalf of Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia that we are thankful for what the Supreme Court has done so far. We had a hearing in the Supreme Court today, we will follow whatever order the Supreme Court has given. He said that the Supreme Court has said that there are other ways ahead of us, including the Delhi High Court, where we can go.

Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia alleged that Delhi Police is working in favor of Brij Bhushan. He said that we are not criminals, we are sitting here to fight for our rights. He claimed that many people who came here in our support have been detained by the Delhi Police. Along with this, the wrestlers demanded their early release and if anything happens to them, the Delhi Police will be responsible for it. The wrestlers clearly said that our strike will continue until action is taken. The protesting wrestlers said that the Supreme Court order is not a setback, the apex court has done what it can do in the matter.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had stopped the proceedings on the petition of three women wrestlers. These wrestlers have made allegations of sexual harassment against the President of Wrestling Federation of India. The Supreme Court had earlier noted that an FIR has been registered in the matter and adequate security has been provided to the seven complainants. A bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud declined to entertain an oral plea of ​​the wrestlers’ counsel that the ongoing investigation in the matter be monitored by a retired or serving judge of a high court.
