Big blow to Team India, KL Rahul out of WTC Final, will undergo thigh surgery
New Delhi. KL Rahul confirmed on Friday afternoon that he will not take part in next month’s ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia. This is a big blow for India. The right-handed Indian batsman suffered a thigh injury in Game No. 43 of IPL 2023 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). After this he had to be ruled out of the remaining matches of IPL. Rahul said through a social media post that he will undergo surgery which will prevent him from traveling to London with Team India in June. The WTC final will be played at The Oval in London from June 7.

Rahul wrote on social media that after careful consideration and consultation with the medical team, it has been concluded that I will be undergoing thigh surgery shortly. My focus will be on my rehabilitation and recovery in the coming weeks. It’s a tough call, but I know it’s the right one to ensure a full recovery. He further said that as the captain of the team, I am deeply pained for not being there during this crucial period. But, I am sure the boys will rise to the occasion and give their best as always. I will be cheering them on from the sidelines, watching every game, along with all of you. Rahul is the captain of Lucknow Super Giants.
