ICC abolishes controversial rule before WTC Final 2023, big change will come in cricket world

The world of cricket will see major changes by the International Cricket Council, which will be implemented in the final match of the World Test Championship (WTC) to be held in London next month. This is such a rule of the cricket world which has been disputed for a long time.

Actually this rule is the soft signal rule, which has now been decided to be abolished by the International Cricket Council. That is, from now on this rule will not be implemented in international matches. Changes were being demanded for a long time regarding this rule, which has now been accepted.

Sourav Ganguly, chairman of the Cricket Committee of the International Cricket Council, has approved this rule to be changed. The information about the changes made regarding this rule has been handed over to both the finalist teams of the World Test Championship, India and Australia. Significantly, this match will be played between India and Australia from June 7 to 12 at the Oval ground in London.

On the other hand, according to the new rule, if the condition of the light deteriorates at any stage during the match of the World Test Championship, then the floodlight can be turned on. However, as a precaution, one day reserve has also been kept for this match.

Know what is this rule
The soft signal rule has been such a rule in the cricket world that questions have been raised many times. Many veterans have advocated to end these rules. According to this rule, the soft signal rule is the method of umpire review by the umpire of the bowler. Means when onfield umpires fail on any decision. In this, there is a visual interaction between the umpire and the third umpire from the bowler’s side. In this, the umpire on the bowler’s side has given his opinion, after which the third umpire gives his review.

In this, on-field umpires means both the field umpires take the help of the third umpire. In this, a decision is taken with the help of video footage regarding the dismissal of the batsman. On the other hand, according to the new rule, if there is a suspicious situation, then only the third umpire will take the decision regarding dismissal.

Ben Stokes raised questions
England captain Ben Stokes raised questions about this rule. Australian batsman Marnus Labuschagne was caught out by Ben Stokes during the Test series played between Australia and South Africa, for which the main reason was attributed to the soft signal. But this catch out looked quite suspicious. There was a lot of controversy regarding this.
