India’s Vinod Kumar and Kenya’s Kimitawai win Chennai Marathon titles

India’s Vinod Kumar Srinivasan and Kenya’s Brigid Gerend Kimitawai won the full marathon titles in the men’s and women’s categories respectively at the 11th Chennai Marathon 2023 here on Sunday. Srinivasan won the title with a timing of 2:37:28. Gyan Babu came second with a timing of 2:48:46 while Jagadeesan Munasamy was third in 2:57:39. In the women’s section, Kimitawai topped the clock with a timing of 3:31:36.

India’s Sandhya Shankar (3:33:57) finished second while Mamta Rawat (3:53:41) finished third. More than 20 thousand runners took part in this marathon in different categories. For the first time, 30 blind runners also made their debut while 50 blade runners and 50 wheelchair runners also participated. During the marathon, full marathon (42.195 km), perfect 20 miler (32.186 km), half marathon (21.097 km) and 10 km were organized in men’s and women’s categories.
