No one wants to see third world war: China
Beijing| China on Tuesday rejected Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s warning about “serious” apprehensions of nuclear conflict over the Ukraine war, saying no one wants to see a third world war.
Responding to Lavrov’s remarks about the threat of a third world war after the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin told a media briefing here: “Nobody wants to see a third world war. ”
“We hope that the parties concerned can exercise restraint, prevent escalation of tension, and create an atmosphere of peace as soon as possible,” Wang said.
The Russian news agency ‘Taas’ quoted Lavrov as saying that the inadmissibility of nuclear war is Russia’s theoretical position, however, the danger of such a conflict should not be underestimated. Underlining China’s position, Wang said, “Under the current circumstances, all sides should support dialogue to stop the conflict.”
