Himachal bundles out Haryana for 46 runs

Himachal Pradesh fast bowlers took full advantage of morning humidity to bundle out Haryana for 46 runs on the opening day of their Ranji Trophy Group A match here on Tuesday. Himachal has scored 246 runs for one wicket till the end of the first day’s play and has thus achieved a lead of 200 runs. From his side, Prashant Chopra (137) and Raghav Dhawan (86 not out) made a strong partnership of 219 runs for the first wicket. Haryana captain Himanshu Rana’s decision to elect to bat after winning the toss proved wrong.

Himachal Pradesh bowlers Vaibhav Arora (four for 15), Siddharth Sharma (three for 12) and Kanwar Abhinay (two for one) did not take long to wrap up his innings. Only one batsman from Haryana, U-19 World Cup star Nishant Sindhu (19) reached double digits. On the other hand, in Kolkata, Ishan Poral (5 for 35) bowled brilliantly as Bengal bowled out Uttar Pradesh for 198 in the first innings. Rinku Singh scored 79 and Priyam Garg scored 53 runs from Uttar Pradesh.

Bengal didn’t start well and were 29 for four at the end of the day’s play. Shivam Mavi took three wickets for 14 runs from Uttar Pradesh. Nagaland bowled out Uttarakhand for 282 in Sovima. Kunal Chandela scored 92 while Dikshanshu Negi scored 83 from Uttarakhand. Nagaland were nine without loss at the end of the day’s play. Odisha scored 214 for five against Baroda in a Group A match being played at Cuttack. Shantanu Mishra scored 61 and Shubhranshu Senapati scored 52 runs from his side.
