The match between India and South Africa is being held on 30 October. India have won the toss. And with that India has decided to bat first. A change has also been made in the team, in place of Axar Patel, Deepak Hooda has been taken in the Indian team. India have had a good tournament so far, winning their first two matches in a very exciting way. Now India is competing with South Africa, one of the world’s biggest cricket teams, in such a situation, the fast bowlers of South Africa will be a big challenge especially for the batsmen of Team India running on the fast track in Perth. South Africa are expected to include another fast bowler in the squad, which could be in the form of Marco Jensen, who has troubled the Indian batsmen in the past.

India will depend on players like Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya to do well in this big match. Hardik, Rohit and Suriya are particularly good against the bounce, they can play their cut shots and pulls as well. India is not going to play Rishabh Pant in place of out-of-form KL Rahul, batting coach Vikram Rathor informed in the pre-match press conference. He said that as soon as Rahul starts to middle the ball, he will come back playing the role of an attacker.

This could be the last ICC tournament for Dinesh Karthik as the 37-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman first made it to the team for the global tournament in 2007. At the same time, 25-year-old Rishabh Pant has yet to play top level cricket for many years. Pant batted from start to finish during practice in the nets but his chances of being included in the playing XI are slim as of now. Both the wicket-keeper batsmen are at different stages of their lives. Karthik did some special ‘blint drills’ so that people don’t criticize his wicketkeeping in what could be his last big tournament.
At the same time, Pant’s batting session showed the passion of a young man and Rahul Dravid spent most of his time watching his batting. Occasionally he hit hard shots at Shardul Thakur and Mohammad Siraj. Sometimes he missed it but he kept practicing. At the center of India’s net practice was Karthik’s unique wicket-keeping drills, which were done under the supervision of fielding coach T Dileep. ‘Blint drill’ is such an exercise which is done to increase the alertness of the wicketkeeper. After this, Karthik also practiced taking some catches.
Rather coach Rahul Dravid asked the net bowlers (spinners) to bowl fast on the stumps when Karthik was keeping wickets. Khilesh, a net bowler, said, “We got instructions from the Indian coaches to bowl fast and keep it close to the stumps, don’t turn too much when Karthik is keeping wickets. We are not used to bowling so fast in grade cricket but it was fun. Karthik kept on doing his drills while Pant was doing batting practice in the second net. Chief selector Chetan Sharma was also present during this optional training session and was watching from afar.
