This is the end: Comedian Munawwar Farooqui says goodbye after 12 shows got cancelled, fans say ‘don’t give up’

New Delhi: Comedian Munawwar Farooqui recently shared an emotional note on Instagram, in which he spoke about the cancellation of his recent show in Bangalore due to venue threats. The controversial comedian was to perform at Bangalore’s Good Shepherd Auditorium at 5 pm, Indian Express reports. However, he revealed on Instagram that his show was canceled due to security reasons. Along with the updates on the show, he also expressed his grievance over the frequent cancellation of his show due to threats of vandalism and called it inappropriate. ( goodbye to munawar faruqui)

Munavvar wrote in an Instagram post that putting me in jail for a joke I never did to cancel my show has nothing to do with it. This is inappropriate. The show has received so much love from people in India irrespective of their religion. This is inappropriate. He revealed that he had a censor certificate for the show to show that there is nothing wrong with the show. He further added that he was forced to cancel 12 shows in the last 12 months due to constant threats of vandalism. Was jailed on January 2, 2021

Fans were stunned to read Munawwar’s post hinting at quitting his career as a comedian. He showered love on her and told her to stay strong. Where a fan commented..call it a joke..say it’s not the end! We will fight strong! Be strong Another wrote that you are a fighter that you cannot defeat. Munawwar Farooqui was arrested and jailed on January 2, 2021 for oblivion after a complaint was filed by the son of a BJP MLA regarding a comedy show in Indore on January 1.

Many comedians like Rohan Joshi, Vir Das, Varun Grover came out in support of the comedian on social media. Varun Grover wrote on Twitter that he does not want to listen, he does not even want to argue. They just want to erase every piece of personal thought, every piece of logic. And we the people of the greatest civilization on earth are fine with that. Four others including Edwin Anthony, Nalin Yadav, Prakhar Vyas and Priyam Vyas were arrested along with Munawar for making objectionable remarks about Hindu deities and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
