Labushen’s century, first and last season game washed out by rain, match in exciting condition

Manchester. Rain played havoc with England’s efforts to keep the series alive on the fourth day of the fourth Ashes Test against Australia here on Saturday. Only 30 overs could be played in the entire day and play in the morning and final session was spoiled due to rain. Rain has been predicted for the fifth and final day as well, which has brought the match to an exciting stage. Joe Root dismissed Australia’s centurion Marnus Labuschagne (111 runs), much to the relief of England, who are trying to win the match to keep the series alive.

At tea, Australia had scored 214 runs in the second innings losing five wickets, trailing England by 61 runs. After this the game could not happen.Mitchell Marsh is playing by scoring 31 runs and Cameron Green is supporting him by scoring three runs. Despite incessant rain, the play started at 2.45 pm. Australia started playing with 113 runs for four wickets. A 103-run partnership between Labushen and Mitchell Marsh seemed to shatter the home team’s hopes of winning the match.

Labushen played an inning of 111 runs and if Australia, leading 2-1, draws this match, then it will retain the Ashes title. This is Labushen’s 11th Test century and second hundred on foreign soil. But 15 minutes before the tea session, Labushen gave a catch to wicketkeeper Johnny Bairstow by touching the bat on the off-spin ball of the occasional bowling root. Root bowled in bad light as the umpires stopped the fast bowlers from bowling. During this, Labushen got life on 93 runs.
