Carpenters shine in Rajasthan’s victory over Puducherry

Manav Sutar took 11 wickets in the match after scoring an unbeaten 96 as Rajasthan thrashed Puducherry by an innings and 101 runs in their Ranji Trophy Group C match here on Wednesday, including a bonus. The 20-year-old bowled brilliantly on Wednesday after sharing a 97-run partnership for the last wicket to take Rajasthan to 335, taking 11 for 62 in the match. Puducherry was bowled out for 104 in the first innings by his superb bowling.

Puducherry’s batsmen, who went for the follow-on, could not walk in the second innings as well and their team was dismissed for 130 runs. Sutar took eight wickets for 33 runs in 17 overs in the first innings. He took three wickets for 29 runs in the second innings. Mahipal Lomror gave him good support in the second innings by taking four wickets for 38 runs. Meanwhile, in Porvorim, Manish Pandey scored a double century in his 100th first-class match as Karnataka declared their first innings at 603 for seven against Goa.

Pandey scored an unbeaten 208 off 186 balls which included 14 fours and 11 sixes. Apart from him, opener Ravikumar Samarth played an inning of 140 runs. For Goa, Darshan Misal took three wickets for 145 runs and Arjun Tendulkar took two wickets for 79 runs. By the end of the second day’s play, Goa had scored 45 runs for one wicket in 23 overs. In the match being played at Thumba, Kerala scored 100 runs for two wickets till the end of the second day’s play in reply to Chhattisgarh’s 149 runs.
