Djokovic wins Adelaide International despite injury
Despite the injury, Novak Djokovic performed brilliantly to beat unseeded Sebastian Korda of America 6. 7, 7. 6, 6. 4 to win the Adelaide International title. Djokovic suffered the injury during his semi-final match against Daniil Medvedev. Despite this, he played a marathon final that lasted more than three hours and won his 92nd career singles title. This is his second title in Adelaide. Earlier in 2007, at the age of 19, he had won the title.
Earlier in the women’s section, second seed Eryna Sabalenka defeated qualifier Linda Noskova in straight sets to win her 11th WTA Tour singles title and first singles title in nearly two years. Sabalenka defeated 18-year-old Noskova 6-2 7-6, after defeating third seed Daria Kasatkina and former Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka, to reach her first final at WTA level. Sabalenka did not drop a set in the entire tournament during her title win.
