India to host BWF Super 100 in Guwahati and junior international tournament in Kerala

India will host two more international badminton tournaments this season with Guwahati hosting the BWF Super 100 tournament while Kerala is set to host a junior international tournament. The Guwahati tournament will be held from December 5 to 10 while the Odisha Open will be played from December 12 to 17. “I am thankful to BWF for allotting a new Super 100 tournament in Guwahati from December 5,” Badminton Association of India (BAI) secretary Sanjay Mishra said during a press conference ahead of the India Open on Monday.

“We have also approached Kerala to host another junior international tournament. Our target is that India can host more and more tournaments so that our small players can take maximum advantage. India had hosted Maharashtra International Challenge and Chhattisgarh International Challenge in September last year. The country’s premier tournament India Open has been upgraded to Super 750 from this year. Till last season it was a Super 500 competition. In addition India also hosts Syed Modi International Super 300, Odisha Super 100, International Challengers in Bangalore and Raipur as well as two junior international tournaments in Pune and Hyderabad.
