Second Cricket Test: Most of the game of the second session was rained, India lead by 301 runs

Jaiswal was the only batsman to be dismissed in the second session. In the first over of the second session, he tried to slog sweep Jomel Warrican and was caught by wicketkeeper Joshua da Silva. Captain Rohit Sharma (57 off 44 balls) also scored his fastest Test half-century in just 35 balls, taking advantage of two lives. Rohit was caught by Shannon Gabriel at fine leg to Alzarri Joseph.
He shared a 98-run partnership for the first wicket with Jaiswal. Earlier, Mohammad Siraj destroyed the West Indies lower order by taking five wickets for 60 runs in 23.4 overs. West Indies started the day at 229 for five and added 26 runs and lost the remaining five wickets to bundle out the entire team for 255 and give India a 183-run lead. Siraj, who has been spearheading India’s pace attack on Caribbean soil in the absence of Mohammed Shami and injured Jasprit Bumrah, did a fine job. The West Indies batsmen found it difficult to deal with him in the morning session. India’s first breakthrough of the day was given by debutant Mukesh Kumar.

Mukesh trapped Alyque Athanaje (37) leg before in the very first over of the day. Sunday’s match started half an hour early to make up for the loss of overs due to rain on the third day. Siraj achieved the first success of the day in the form of Jason Holder (15), who caught wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan on a swinging full length ball. Siraj then lbw Alzarri Joseph (04). The on-field umpire did not give him out but the decision went in India’s favor after taking DRS. Siraj took five or more wickets in an innings for the second time in his career by lbwing number 11 batsman Gabriel. India started the second innings aggressively. Jaiswal scored 11 runs in the first over of the innings with fours and sixes on Kemar Roach. Rohit also hit his first six on Roach. He entertained the audience a lot by hitting three sixes and five fours in his innings.
