England fast bowler Katherine Sciver-Brunt announces retirement from international cricket

One of the most prolific bowlers in England women’s cricket, Katherine Sciver-Brunt on Friday said goodbye to a 19-year-long international career. Sciver-Brunt, who was part of the team that won the World Cup three times, made her debut for England in 2004. The 37-year-old veteran played his last international match against South Africa in the T20 World Cup semi-final at Newlands in February. He has played a total of 267 international matches. The right-arm bowler had retired from Test cricket in June last year after playing 14 matches.

He has 51 wickets in Tests. She had already announced her retirement from regional cricket but will continue to play in ‘The Hundred’. “I am putting an end to my international travel after 19 years,” Siever-Brunt said in a release here. I thought I would never reach this decision but I have and this is the toughest time of my life. I have achieved all the trophies and titles that I wanted to achieve. But my greatest joy in cricket is Nate Sciver (her England teammate whom Sciver-Brunt married last year).

During his illustrious career, Sciver-Brunt won three World Cups (two ODIs and one T20I) and four Ashes series. He took 170 wickets in 141 ODIs and 114 wickets in 112 T20 Internationals. Both of these are records for England. He took a total of 335 wickets for England.
