Charleston Open: Top-seeded Pegula advances to tournament quarterfinals
Charleston. Top seed Jessica Pegula has lost 10 games in a row and was trailing 0-4 at one point in the final set but then made a stunning comeback to reach the quarterfinals of the Charleston Open tennis tournament. World No. 3 American Pegula beat 15th seed Irina Camilia Begu 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 in a hard-fought three-set match. Pegula will have to show consistency in her game if she is to beat 12th seed Paula Badosa in the quarterfinals and make it to the last four.

Badosa registered a 6-3, 6-1 win over Diana Snyder in another match. Second seed Ons Jaber, third seed Daria Kasatkina and defending champion Belinda Bencic also advanced to the quarterfinals. Jaber defeated Caroline Dolehide 6-3, 7-5, Kasatkina defeated Bernarda Pera 6-3, 7-6(3) and Bencic defeated Shelby Rogers 4-6, 7-5, 6-2.
