Ministry approves foreign practice of Sable and Tejaswin
The Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) of the Sports Ministry on Thursday approved the proposal of Commonwealth Games medalists Avinash Sable and Tejaswin Shankar to train and compete abroad. Sable, who has been training in Colorado Springs, USA under the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS), will now travel to Rabat, Morocco for eight days of training. While Tejaswin will train in the Bahamas where the Americans will participate in the ATF Throw Festival. He will then practice in Tucson, USA and play the NACAC New Life Invitational tournament.
The MOC, in its meeting held on Thursday, also cleared jumpers Jesvin Aldrin, Praveen Chitravel and T Selva Prabhu to practice and compete in Greece, Italy and France respectively. All these expenses will be covered under TOPS which includes air tickets, visa fees, medical insurance, local transport, lodging and boarding expenses besides ‘out of pocket’ allowance (OPA).
